A native of Los Angeles, I was born and lived in the San Fernando Valley until moving to North San Diego County in 1995. I graduated from California State University Northridge with degree in Journalism. I have held leadership positions in broadcast journalism, a regulated energy utility, international trade, mortgage banking, land use and urban planning, healthcare, and education.
I have also served in volunteer leadership roles with more than two dozen professional and non-profit organizations in Los Angeles and San Diego counties, including the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Nissan Los Angeles Open Golf Tournament and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. My work has netted me and my colleagues with numerous local, regional and national recognition.
My wife, Laura, and I have been married for 33 years and live in Carlsbad. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Portland, Oregon, and son in Carlsbad.
My hobbies include cooking, photography, writing, and educating the public on emergency preparedness and disaster planning.
